saudi turf team A Simple Guide to Choosing Anti Fatigue Mats

Anti-Fatigue matting is a term used for any type of matting that gives you comfort when standing on the mat. This type of matting is essential in applications where you may be standing for long periods of time operating machinery, serving customers or just general activities. Another major benefit when using Anti fatigue matting is the insulation from cold floors which can otherwise have a detrimental effect on the feet and legs.
There are many different types of mats in this category but generally they come in either ready made mats or in long rolls which are cut to a custom length. The most popular type of material used is of course rubber - though Foam Vinyl and PVC are other popular materials used.
To determine the type of Anti Fatigue mat you require firstly you need to identify the environment you will be in. Is it going to be wet, dusty, fragments of something getting on the mat, is there oil and grease present etc.
In situations where there are liquids, dust, shavings or fragments etc present it would be preferable to have a mat with holes in it to allow the slip hazard to pass through the mat. If there is grease and oil around it is recommended to use a Nitrile rubber mat rather than just a general purpose rubber. If you are in a relatively clean environment then a "solid surfaced mat" or mat that has no holes in it would be suitable.
The surface pattern on Anti fatigue mats can vary dramatically from large raised bubbles to a completely smooth surface however one thing generally remains constant - Anti Fatigue mats by their very nature need to compress to be effective and therefore are relatively thick. This thickness or "mat height" can sometimes add a trip hazard so many pre-made mats will have rolled or ramped edges around the entire perimeter.
One of the main factors in making your decision regarding which style would be most suitable would be the people standing on the mat - are there going to be shoes with heels, if so, then raised bubbles may not be suitable. Are there going to be trolleys or carts moving over the mat, then a mat with a wide tapered edge will be the answer. Will there be a slip hazard due to dust, shavings or moisture, then a mat with holes or deep recesses will be the way to go.
There may be areas where you need a longer Anti fatigue mat which means one must be cut from a roll. Matting that is manufactured in roll form offers versatility in mat length but also means that often a tapered or ramped edge may not be present on the mats ends. A rounded or beveled edge can sometimes be cut onto the mats ends but depending on the type of matting it is, you may need to consider that a non-standard runner length of Anti fatigue matting will have a square cut edge.
